Stop Preaching At Me!

"It is not enough for Christians to preach the gospel at people; we must share the gospel with people."

I am troubled. I was going to write more, but I just can't.

I was going to comment, but there's not much to comment on!! Hehe, welcome back to blogging from SoCal!!

I would make one suggestion tho': Before you add to this blog, you check out the first sermon in the book of acts, and decide which preposition best fits. Is it a "with" gospel, or an "at" gospel, and why? That might bring clarity to the trouble you feel? I've missed you, sir.

It is good to be back.

I am pretty sure it is a "with" gospel. We as Christians should be sharing the gospel with people, unlike the guy in this picture. I really feel sorry for him, he is so caught up in preaching the gospel at people that he is failing to share or even experience the gospel with them. Christ lived out the gospel with people, when I look closely at the Gospels it seems the only people Jesus preaches at are the religious folk, who are practicing false religion. I hope to be a person who as I live in the glory of the gospel, share the gospel with people. By the way Doug, thanks for taking me back to Acts, I think Peter's sermon is a great example of sharing the gospel with people, they just experienced something incredible and he was sharing with people what happened so that they could participate in the gospel with him.

Wearing a t-shirt that says, "No Homos Go To Heaven" does not seem likely to win souls to Christ. I have also seen people walking down a street, carrying a giant sign, yelling something like, "Repent, or you will go to Hell!" This turns me off...even though I am a born-again Christian who believes that evangelism is the most important 'work' a Christian can do.

At the opposite extreme, many Christians complain that door-to-door and passing out gospel tracts is ineffective.

Yet, Mormons go door-to-door all the time, and in the 1990's, they were one of the fastest-growing religious groups in the world. According to "U.S. News & World Report," if present trends continue, there could be 265 million members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) worldwide by 2080.

Jehovah's Witnesses also go door-to-door all the time. And, as of last year, Jehovah's Witnesses are the fastest-growing church body in the U.S. and Canada, last year having more than 1 million members, according to figures that track church membership in the U.S. and Canada.
Jehovah's Witnesses also hand out literature when they go door-to-door.
